About Standing in the Gap

Our Beginnings

Standing In The Gap was founded on March 15, 2000, by Stacey Hillis. God placed a burden on Stacey’s heart to “feed his sheep” (John 21:15-19). Stacey is determined to carry out God’s will. The name Standing In The Gap originated from Ezekiel 22:30, “I look for a man among them who would build up the walls and stand in the gap before me.”

Our Vision

Standing In The Gap exists to share a message of hope and actively demonstrate the love of Jesus by providing food, clothing and furniture to those in need throughout the community of Owasso and the surrounding areas. Deuteronomy 15:7 “If there is a poor man among your brothers…do not be hardhearted or tight fisted towards your poor brother. Rather be open handed and freely lend him whatever he needs/”

What We Do

The Standing In The Gap distribution center assists individuals, churches and partnering ministries by providing food and personal items to serve those in need on an ongoing basis. We are currently serving six communities and touching the lives of over 400 people each month. Without our deliveries, the needs of these people will not be met.

God has brought together ordinary people and created in them a passion to touch the lives of those who are bound by the darkness and despair of this world. It is our belief that this cannot be done at a distance, but must be pursued on a relational level. People do not care “how much we know” until they “know how much we care.”

It is our prayer that God will use Standing In The Gap to bring the Body of Christ together to meet the needs of the hurting people in our community.

Standing In The Gap is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation per the Internal Revenue Service Code. All donations to Standing In The Gap are tax-deductible. Donation receipt letters are available upon request.
